Waaah, it's sure is hot today! It's on days like this that I want to do nothing but lay down on the garden and sleep all day! Summer sure is getting closer at a fast rate, or is it too soon to say that?

Anyway, hello, Luceti. Mind if I ask how many of you have been bonding and training with the Filial Spirits? I was wondering if any of you have ever been able to talk with them in a "normal" way. I mean, we talk to them but they can't really talk back to us the same way, or at least they aren't doing so to me. So I was wondering if it may be because I need more training or they just can't. Or maybe I'm just that bad with Filial Spirits.

[Yoh laughs sheepishly. The question is only half serious, he has been training with the Filial Spirits indeed, hoping that getting stronger bonds with them would help him to understand better Amidamaru's current state and communicate better with him. In a way it's working but it's still not what he wants, and he figured that it wouldn't hurt to fish for some information using the Filial Spirits as an excuse. At worst he will be left knowing nothing new and at best he may learn something that would help him with Amidamaru.]

Nah, it's not too soon. It's warm today, I'll grant, but it gets worse in July and August. But overall we get a pretty mild summer here, at least compared to where I come from.

I can't help you with the Filial Spirits though. Sorry.

If it gets worse in July and August maybe it's still a bit soon to say that summer is here after all. Is summer very hard back where you're from?

Ah, it's fine, I suppose not everyone even bothers with trying it since it may seem weird.

Well, when you're used to hot summers, they're not that bad. For me, the winter in Luceti is brutal because Veldime's not so cold that we constantly have snow. That and I prefer the heat.

It's not that it's weird, for me at least. It's mostly because learning magic isn't really my style. Yeah, it exists, but I've got no interest in it.

Sounds like you would prefer a more tropical weather then. Though I'm not sure how hotter than here that would be.

I'm not trying to learn magic yet, I'm honestly more interested in them, the Filial Spirits. It's not everyday you get the chance to meet beings like them, you know?

Well, I definitely love beach weather... but Veldime's not really tropical. Warm side of temperate. Perfect crop growing weather.

I never really thought about it like that. Come to think of it, we don't really have elemental spirits like them in my world, either. I guess it hadn't really occurred to me to see what they were like aside from trying to contact them to receive their teachings.

They don't communicate with words, so that's fairly normal behavior for them. Which spirits have you been attempting to contact?

[That may also be why Amidamaru can't communicate with him normally, maybe that's just how spirits in this world work. Yoh only pauses for a moment to consider that, though, he will think about it later.]

Ah, so far I've only been able to contact Nala, Faeren and Tsinku. I'm trying to contact them all though, it's not everyday that you can meet spirits like those so I would like to get to know them all.

[Learning from them is another thing, so far Yoh hasn't really bothered to even ask for it so he knows nothing yet.]

It can take time to make contact with each of them, so it sounds like you're already off to a good start in that regard.

You think so? Well, it's not like I'm really in a hurry to meet them, since I'm assuming that I'll be around for a good while. So I try to not be too annoying to them in general. Nala and Faeren were the easiest to start contact with, though Faeren is quite shy.

Have you been contacting with the Filial Spirits often, miss?

I suppose it is. At least it's quite similar to what I'm used to back in my world.

I'm sure this counts as a heat wave, though, so even if it's "normal" it shouldn't be "constant".

And the spirits you mentioned, are you talking [ how do ou even describe them. ] They're communicating with just a sense of feeling, right?

Yes, they project their feelings and emotions, at least that's how they are communicating with me so far. It's an interesting and curious thing to experience to be honest, not unpleasant or uncomfortable, but definitively new.

It's more like a feeling.

Yes, I'm aware of that. It's how they have been communicating with me so far, but I wondered if it was how they always communicate as that it's the only way for them to do so or if it had to do with me being new at this.

[This being talking to Filial Spirits, not to spirits in general but no one needs to know that.]

[She thinks for a moment, though, and Rei comes to mind. She isn't sure if Rei's tried contacting the Luceti spirits, but she does know Rei has great spiritual gifts.]

Maybe someone with more spiritual abilities could do more, though.

Is that so? Then maybe that's just the way they communicate, just as they don't seem to have distinguishable forms.

Ah, maybe they could, but it's not easy to come along people who claim to have such abilities, right?

You've been training with Filial Spirits? I've been wanting to find a few and maybe train with them, too. Do you know where... um... I think it was Nala? Where Nala can be found, for starters? I want to be able to heal without the use of my... magic device, so I figured that she'd be a good one to start with.

I guess it's a way to say it! So far all I try to do is talk with them though, right now I'm more curious about them as what they are than about the Filial Magic I read about in the guide. I think I would like to try that one day though.

[Maybe, but for now he's more interested in the spirits themselves for several reasons.]

And to be honest I don't know if there's a specific place to find Nala, I wasn't even looking for her when I met her! But if it serves for anything I was at the forest at the time.

Oh, I see. So you're researching them, in a way? Cool! Have you found anything interesting about them yet? Have you found any others, like... Eferin, or Tsinku? Those two looked interesting.

Nah, a research would take too much work. I just try to communicate with them and learn about each of them, you know like when you talk with people. I've found many interesting things about them but I think everyone and everything has interesting things in them so I don't know if my word has much value there.

[He laughs a carefree laugh at his own words.]

I've not met yet Eferin but I've managed to contact Tsinku, he's pretty headstrong but very intelligent, talking with him is very surprising. It would be better if we could actually communicate the same way as humans do but it's still fun.

I've only talked to a few of them, but they've never talked back. I think you're doing okay. How long have you been training with them?

Oh, not long, since the end of April more or less. So far I've only managed to contact Nala, Faeren and Tsinku. I just wondered if maybe I was missing something or whatever, but it seems that they just don't have voices like we do. It's a relief to know that it's not that they don't like me or something.

You picked some of the friendlier ones to contact, even though I heard Tsinku is kind of stubborn. Have you learned a lot from them?

Oh, yes! I still have a lot to learn but so far I know, for example, that Nala is very trustworthy and honest, she doesn't seem the type to think badly of others unless she sees it herself, you know? I think she truly believes in the good of everyone and everything. And Faeren may be shy but she's also very sweet, yet she can get angry when you mistreat plants and flowers, you know? I don't know about Tsinku being stubborn, though, he is pretty headstrong, yes but also very intelligent, I didn't expect that... It's a pity they don't talk like us, it would make learning things about them far easier.

[Yes, he's aware that what she was asking wasn't about those kind of things, but they are the things he has learned and what he's interested in learning right now. And he's also aware that if she has contact with them he probably hasn't told her anything new, but she asked.]
