Aah, I was told many new people don't react well to this place. The change and lack of control over it just triggers them. But I'm really fine, getting sad, worried or scared wouldn't change my situation anyway, it would only make it worse. Since things are already bad enough as they are, I may as well just fixate on the good things and be happy while living my life. After all, life is really just as terrible as you want it to be.

[He smiles, remembering the smiling face of that spirit at the train station that taught him something so great and yet so simple. If it hadn't been for her, if it hadn't been for Shimane Joe... He would have remained being a sad and lonely person just like Hao, he wouldn't have met the people he did, he wouldn't have made the friends he has made, he wouldn't have been able to save Anna or Manta or Ryu or Ren, all of them would have been lost and swallowed by the world, by hate, by indifference. Even if he can't see Amidamaru, even if he can't hear him and no one else is here, he won't let it drag him down. Not any more.]

People who don't hope have no interest in the future. People without interest in the future won't work for it in the present. People who won't work in the present will never have a past to look back at that's worth of it. Which is basically the same as saying that people who don't hope, are at even a worse state that those who are dead, because someone who died at least had a life at some point before, but those guys don't even have one life. So they have nothing left, that's pretty sad if you ask me.
