[The house had feels odd when he wakes up in the morning. It's something easy to notice for him, even if it still surprises him at times, like when he was able to felt that Manta was in danger. It's a subtle feeling, general and vague, that something isn't right, that something is lacking. His first thought goes for the samurai spirit that has been his companion for the longest time. It's natural after all, since the first moment he arrived here the samurai's presence had been vague and hard to see, even if he was clearly there, it was also as if he wasn't entirely there. To think that something terrible has happened, like Amidamaru using up all his furyoku to be able to just be in that state of presence or that Yoh's powers have finally vanished for some reason, isn't that strange or a wild conclusion.

But that's not it. Vague and subtle, just a fine outline of what would be Amidamaru's body, but he can still sense him there with him. Still there and also having a bad feeling, or does he actually know what's wrong? It's hard to tell when all he can pick up is a general idea of the samurai's feelings. Anyway, if Amidamaru's there then that only leaves Sonic to be the problem. It had been great to find his second spirit companion at the village as well when he arrived, specially since he was able to talk with him normally, though it made him worry more about why Amidamaru wasn't the same. What was the difference between both spirits?

Yoh makes his way to Sonic's room, it was a bit strange yet to get used to the idea that the spirit had a room of his own, but it didn't really matter much to him. Sonic not being there doesn't worry him either, the hedgehog had always been just like the wind, free and unstoppable when he wanted to be so. He probably had just gone out for some reason or another. Except because his room is completely empty.]

... Sonic?

[Amidamaru is by his side, he knows it and he can feel the samurai trying to comfort him. No, it's not that, he's... Reassuring him, that's the term. Though he's not sure what the spirit is trying to reassure him of. That Sonic will be fine back home? That he's still here at least? No, Yoh doesn't need that sort of reassuring either way. Even if it's sad to see his friend leave after so little time. He can feel Amidamaru try to guide him to the journals, Yoh obbeys easily, he trusts his friend after all even if he can't understand what he's trying to do exactly. Just like his friends trust him even if they don't get him the whole time.

A couple of entries later, Yoh's smiling as calmly as always. The brief moment of worry gone. Apparently his friend hadn't been sent home, most probably he had just been moved like other people seemed to have been moved. Definitively better.]

Hey, Sonic. If you hear this before you return home, can you go and get some groceries on your way here? Since you're already out and all that.

[Yoh laughs, nothing wrong in taking advantage of the situation, right?]

I hope that at least all your things are with you, because there's nothing left here. It will be a pain if we have to go around hunting for them.

How many people have been moved overnight, by the way? Is this a common happening? I can hear that the bit about missing a whole day seems to be common enough to be something to worry about. I really hope this doesn't have secondary effects like making us more forgetful when we grow old, or to start having memory problems before we're too old. That would be quite troublesome.

[And yet, judging by his laugh it doesn't seem he's particularly worried about it. Mostly because he's not, it's hard to worry about something that's beyond his control after all or something about which he can't do anything yet.]

No one over here has been moved, but all of my housemate's things are gone! We're still trying to find out what happened to them.

Eh? So your housemate was home but their things aren't? That sucks, how are you going to hunt them down?

I guess we'll have to start by checking all the shops. Maybe the Malnosso sent them there.

...oh, and if you see a stray chocobo -a large yellow bird that's used as a mount- please let me know. My housemate's missing that, too, but she must be roaming around somewhere.

A large yellow bird... That sounds as something hard to miss, I'll check around to see if I can see it.

What is your housemate missing? Maybe their stuff is at another house or something? I don't think I have anything that shouldn't be here but I haven't checked all the rooms here yet.

He's missing his harp...and, well, everything else. We haven't started checking other dwellings, but you could be right; I'll ask around over the journal.

It's worth a try after all. Even if they don't have them maybe they have seen them at the stores and can point you to where they are more easily. It should save time in the recovering of his things.

[That said he will get up and go and check if there's something that he doesn't recognize around, while carrying the journal open.]

[Sigh.]

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think I like it better when it was just us randomly teleporting, rather than our things as well.

[That makes him laugh.]

There's nothing wrong in finding comfort in thinking that things could have been worse, or preferring when things were, even if still bad, not as bad as they are now. I mean, everyone prefers to just be wounded than to be dead, don't they? And it would be less troublesome if our things hadn't been moved as well.

Though I guess that it says something about their dedication and attention to details that they would even include our things like that.

It says they delight in finding new ways to mess with us. I don't see how any of that could benefit them, otherwise.

...though I haven't heard of any weird teleporting since that initial bit. Maybe they've done whatever they set out to do and this is it.

[Yoh smiles a little.]

I was thinking that it says that they are very dedicated to their job and do it with great care up to the smallest detail. Even if that job consists on making things troublesome at best for us, it has some merit to it, don't you think?

[He chuckles a bit.]

Well... It's hard to know what those at a higher position than us and who control everything normally have in their minds and how the things that they provoke or allow to happen necessarily benefits them. One could wonder what's the benefit of people dying, for example, but understanding it or not doesn't really matter much.

But I take by your words that actually this bit of teleporting is actually something small after all?

You give them a lot of credit.

[But she's done semi-ranting, for now.]

It's only happened once, so far, sometime this morning. Granted, all of Link's things missing is more than a minor inconvenience...but it's odd that nothing else has happened, you know? Usually, there more to these experiments than that.

Not giving them credit for their work, even if it's something I don't like, wouldn't make things better anyway.

[There's also no point in being overly angry at something ethereal, a group of faceless people whose reasons they don't know or understand. It's like being angry at the world in general for what happens to them, even if here they have reasons and proofs to think that it's the work of those faceless people after all rather than it being just a self-pitying whine.]

Maybe there's more happening and we just haven't noticed? Or more that happened and we just forgot. It's hard to determine that nothing else is going on when we already know that our memories have been altered.

I suppose so, which makes it all the more unsettling. But I can't just get myself more worked up about it when there's things to be done. As much as I hate saying it, we might just have to wait and see what happens.

That seems to be the way things roll in this place. But life in general is pretty much that, even if rather than just sit and wait we end doing things while waiting.
